Feeling Purple?

I LOVE these rooms from Domino and I am so sad that it is closing it's doors! Thanks Mangonette for bringing these to my attention.

This room looks like a breath of fresh air literally! The perfect place to lose yourself in a good book and a cool refreshing drink!

This dining room is so elegant it makes me want to plan a five course dinner party involving espresso and some decadent chocolate cake! I love dessert and will always eat a little less food so I have space for it!

This room is definitely a little over the top but something about it seems a little magical for some reason and I adore peacocks!

This is probably my favorite of the four with it's clean finish I love the white and purple combo not to mention the fun light fixture and the gorgeous bed spread!

Enough Already....

I have heard and read about Jessica Simpson's weight gain like a bajillion times over the last few days. US Magazine's current top story is "Singer Jessica Simpson Steps Out Amidst Weight Gain Scandal" A SCANDAL really that is a SCANDAL for someone to put on a few pounds?? Honestly is it really that important? She's happy so what does it matter what all the rest of us think? This is exactly what causes women to have such weight issues and feel so crappy when they put on even the littlest bit of weight. I won't lie I most definitely watch what I eat and have been known to get a little upset when the scale says I've gained a few pounds or to analyze EVERY calorie I eat throughout the day. It doesn't help though that when you see someone after a month or two and you're just recently engaged the first thing you say is "oh you've put on weight". Not that I didn't know I had but how about a congratulations?? Alright I'll get off my soap box now...what do the rest of you think on this issue? Do you feel like there is added pressure on women when it comes to weight? Are you tired of Jessica Simpson's weight gain being a "major" news story?

I LOVE Mail

Does anybody else love getting stuff in the mail? I mean cards, letters, goodies etc. NOT bills! Although I rarely get stuff when I do it's like an unexpected treat...In college I used to make a point to correspond with friends through mail because I loved making someones long day a little brighter! Last year I even mailed out hand stitched valentines to all my favorite girlies! Anyhow to get to the point when I saw these I couldn't help but say awwwww! How fun would it be to get one of these in the mail???

Lea Redmond basically hand transcribes your letters and mails them out with a seal, and a tiny magnifying glass for the recipient. Check out her website she has a ton of other whimsical things!

If you are in the San Francisco Bay Area you can go in personally or you can order one online! Totally unique way to send a message to the ones you love!

So this morning I not only woke up to a mountain of snow but also no power. The only good that has come of it all is the 12:00 PM opening at work. See snow and I can get along if it means I can stay inside and observe it from a distance! Here is what our yard looks like:

But even better then that is the photo of the day the other side of the yard. Remember when I told you there was no power this morning? Well apparently the power lines are in our yard because look:

Here's hoping for a full day off from work?? Maybe the snow and I can call a truce??

:(

I feel tired and frustrated both of which have combined to make me feel VERY CRANKY. What doesn't help is this:

Yes that's right MORE SNOW! Maybe I need a time out but I really just want to have a good old fashioned temper tantrum and a nap. Why are those no longer acceptable? Leave something to make me smile please!

I Love Indian Weddings...

When I was a little girl I dreamed of a big white dress wedding...It wasn't until I got older that I realized the beauty of an Indian wedding. The customs, music, dancing, it's like having a week long party to celebrate your love. Plus there is the added fun of getting to pick out 3 different outfits! Like Sarah over at La Jeune Marie I think I am having wedding withdrawal. For all the planning that went into our 3 day, 5 event wedding it feels like it was just a dream! That's why I loved seeing these pictures of Parminder Nagra's wedding (Bend it Like Beckham, ER). How STUNNING is she???

I love the cake and her dresses are gorgeous! It definitely brings back memories!

Happy Monday!

Is it wrong that I got excited that today is National Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day? What I found even more exciting is that they make PURPLE bubble wrap! How fun is that??

If you find this as exciting as me go waste some time popping some virtual bubble wrap here...You can even change the color! Doesn't it just make Monday better??

Repeat

Do you guys have an album or a song that you can listen to on repeat and not get tired of? I am currently addicted to this album from a recent hindi movie and I just keep it on repeat while I am at work.

In other news I think our bed has super powers, it just sucks you in and won't let you out! Everyday the husband and I decide we are going to the gym and everyday we somehow just up in bed watching TV. This isn't so bad except laundry goes unfolded, photos go unscrapped, bills go unfiled, and pictures go unphotoshopped. I don't know if it's because it's so cold out, or because work is so busy I just can't think anymore by the time I get home, my theory is the bed has powers! Last night I was determined to fold the laundry I got up at 10:15 PM to get something and sat down for a second next to husband on the bed. Next thing I know it's 11:00 PM! I had fallen asleep across he husband forming a plus sign across the bed! Does this happen to anyone else?? Thank goodness it's Friday is all I have to say! Hope all of you have a wonderful weekend!

11:45 PM

Close enough for a midnight snack right? Last night the husband was hungry so I thought I would be a nice wife and make him one of his favorite treats Chocolate Croissants! These are SO easy it's not even funny so I suggest you try them out ASAP!

All you need is a canister of Pilsbury Crescent rolls (I get the smaller ones so they make 8) and nutella (YUM!). Unroll the crescent rolls scoop in some Nutella and bake for 11-13 minutes. Then enjoy your little piece of heaven :). TA DA! (Sorry I didn't have any powdered sugar on hand and it was late so they aren't rolled as pretty but they did the trick!)

These are also really yummy with preserves/jam inside we tried them yesterday with peach preserves. I think they could also make a good appetizer stuffed with some cheese and veggies. I definitely want to try making some chedder and jalapeno croissants with a fun dipping sauce for our next get together or maybe swiss, mushroom, and spinach. Oh the possibilities!

Photo of the Day 1-21-08

I have lots I want to blog about but no time to do it...So for now here is my Photo of the Day yesterday. I had to run to the courthouse on lunch and it brought back a flood of good memories from our own court wedding as well as my cousins. I also really liked the way the sun was playing into the picture like a little ray of hope! I hope you guys enjoy it and I'll hopefully be back later with some fun :)

P.S. What do you guys think of this project so far? Are you having fun following along or not so much?

Super Powers

Today is yet another fairly busy day at work....I am definitely wishing these capes I made for the boys had actual powers, because I wouldn't mind snagging it back if it meant I could be invisible for the day. Or you know fly off onto a beach for that matter anywhere there isn't snow would be good! This was my photo of the day for Saturday the 17th although I probably could have taken the same one on Sunday and again on Monday since they refused to take them off!

Here's to our new president, I can't wait to see his inaguaration speech tonight ( I love TiVo) and to see what else he has in store for the next 4 years. Yes We Can!

P.S. I am loving this feature in the N.Y. Times. It's awesome to see SO many people SO excited for this day. You better believe my project 365 picture today will be Obama related...

Happy Friday!

So I am almost completely caught up with my Project 365 I cheated a little and made out a list of images for the days that I had not participated and then took them over the last few days...So far it's actually been really fun and you would be amazed at how you look at things a little closer to see if that should be your picture for the day! You can follow along if you click on the icon on the right hand side, if any of you are also playing send me your links! Mine from yesterday was this:

It's the scarf I wore wrapped around my head when leaving for work yesterday. This old lady look amused my husband greatly butit was COLD!
For those of you that are also freezing your butts of here is a tutorial I found on Blog Goggles on how to get your scarf tied to old lady perfection:

It's no secret I ADORE scarves and I also loved these tutorials:

LOVE

So as I've been browsing blogs over the last day or so I have found things I LOVE not necessarily things I NEED but still they make me feel all warm and fuzzy! So here we go!

I love pictures! I love taking them, looking at them, playing with them and so on and so forth....So when I saw this over on Ali Edwards blog it was love at first sight!

It's a gorgeous image from isphotography and I think it would add just a fun touch of whimsy to any room. I also love this one she has of the Eiffel tower!

The second etsy fun find from Ali's blog this morning is evalicious, I am loving her "he said, she said" album that Ali is giving away. It's not in her etsy shop but she does have a few others that make it easy for someone to throw together a quick mini album.

Next up is this VIP bag from Tintamar that I saw on Maegan's cute blog! It's perfect for storing your essentials for easy grab and go from a bigger bag, and the colors are so fun with the exception that there isn't purple!

Speaking of Maegans I recently stumbled across the blog http://www.lovemaegan.com/ if you haven't seen it check it out she's such a fun fashionista that has awesome thrifting skills!

Last but not least going back to my love for pictures. Forget using this as a dining room I would totally love to have this as a work space? After all what can be more inspiring then being surrounded by images of the people you love and images that make your heart flutter like the one above! (Image from A cup of Jo)

I hope you enjoyed my finds and they made you smile too!
P.S. I am going to participate in Project 365 but I am playing catch up so hopefully I'll have a post on that soon! Are any of you guys going to join in?

Slumdog Millionaire

If you guys haven't see this movie I highly suggest you do....It's one of those movies that will have you thinking about it for days after. The story is unique to say the least and as you follow the main actor through his life and find out how he know the right answers your heart goes out to him. Both the Dev Patel and Freida Pinto did an amazing job portraying their characters and bringing the story to life. Danny Boyle also directed 28 days and Trainspotting but I think this might be his best movie yet. Not to mention they swept the Golden Globes on Sunday winning four major awards for best dramatic picture, director, music, and screenplay. If you haven't seen it please do and if you have let me know what you thought!

Project 365

Not sure if any of you have heard of this but it's basically where you take a picture everyday for the entire year. It can be a picture of anything representing that day to you. I have been meaning to get back into photography for fun and not only when there is an event and this seems like such a fun way to go back and look over your year come 2010! I know I'm already 12 days behind but that's not horrible since I have a pic from new years and one from the sis-in-laws birthday on Saturday so that just makes me 10 behind. It sounds kind of fun...what do you guys think? Should I go for it? Is anyone else interested in playing along with me?

Braid Envy!

So ever since I saw this fun braided style I have been trying to replicate! I especially like this version which seems like a cute way to get those pesky bangs out of my face!

(Not the best J. Simpson pic I know but her hair is cute!)
I've tried a few times and while it comes out ok it's not anything great...Which is why when I saw it Grey's Anatomy last night I have become super obsessed with figuring it out!

You can't see it all too well in here but this is the best picture I could find.
Come to think I have sported this look before...but I don't think it counts since I had an expert hair stylist do it for me!

What do you guys think? Have you tried this look out and been successful? If so please leave tips before I cause all my hair to fall out from braiding and re-braiding!
Photos via here and here.

Here comes the Bride!

Please don't forget to comment on the give away below you have until tomorrow night at 12 to enter!!!!

Here are the pics from the surprise Bridal Shower we hosted a few weeks ago...I went with the Movie theme "Bollywood" to be more specific and it all turned out great!
I found this huge film strip banner which we had running across the wall and I placed different movie posters in every other one. We also had fun silver stars hanging from the ceiling.

Here is the table set up with all the appetizers we went with fun movie snacks like popcorn, nachos, and if you were in India then mouth watering pani puri!

I also set up a scrapbook table for all her friends to create a page to commemerate the day making it easy for her to put together the scrapbook later since she had some predone pages. This was definitely a big hit with all the guests.

Our guest of honor was most definitely surprised in fact she even got scared at first! Her friends decided to all wear black tops and jeans so for her I picked out a white top to make her stand out. Across the white top I bought silver glitter letters and ironed on "DULHAN" which is the hindi word for bride. I added red rhinestone accents on the side to go with the red tank top I bough to go underneath. Red is the traditional wedding color for us. Here she is in all her fun bridal finery, we also got a boa and check out that diamond ring on her hand! (That was my favorite part because it had a light in it that would blink when you turned it on) She also had a fun tiara not pictured here.

After we all chowed down the yummy appetizers we played a round of bollywood trivia, followed by the bubble gum game for the bride. We finished up with a game of bollywood bingo and then some dancing :). The prizes given out were gift cards to AMC movie theatres and I packaged them up in a fun tin box with a bow on top.

I forgot to snag pictures of the favors but they were handmade CD cases, including a romantinc hindi movie and a CD of the latest romantic Hindi songs. The backside was covered in a fun paper and the front had a 3x3 Image with a small picture of her and the date. I added on a scrapbook flower for fun! Here is a pic of the original sample I made...

All in all everyone had a good time and I think for a weeks planning it went really well!
